Job Description

A National Retail Real Estate Development Firm has an immediate opening in their Southern California office for a Land Planner with 1-5 year’s experience.

Minimum qualifications include a B.A./B.S. in urban design, planning, landscape or architecture. Previous experience and/or training involving urban planning, local/regional land use, zoning, land development plan review, site plan review, and personal computer operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and project management skills as well as the ability to balance multiple projects and priorities while taking a leading role in gaining project approval.

Conducts/attends various meetings; attends and presents to Board of Commissioner meetings, Planning Commission meetings, Appeals Board meetings, and public meetings related to current and long range planning issues; attends plan review meetings with architects, engineers, contractors, builders, property owners, and the public; prepares visual graphics materials for presentations at meetings. Outreach duties and public relations work as needed; attend neighborhood and community meetings; act as liaison between ownership, its consultants, vendors, partners and the community. TRAVEL REQUIRED

  • Ability to edit and write a range of materials for a variety of audiences
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, team-player with superior time management skills.
  • Flexible with the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand Zoning Codes, General Plans, Specific Plans and planning documents.
  • General understanding of commercial development process.
  • Experience with any of the following software programs a plus. AutoCad, Photoshop, Freehand, ArcView, Sketch Up, MS Word, Excel, and Project.

Salary:  35K to 50K DOE
